Uncles and Aunties - Justin and Friends

In Singapore, and many Asian cultures, it is customary to address men of an older generation as ‘Uncle,’ and women as ‘Auntie.’ This warm expression conveys a sentiment of trust and respect.

This photo series captures the typical Singaporean ‘uncle’ that can be spotted relaxing around the Hawker Centers and HDB public spaces.

The older Singaporeans take advantage of the cooler temperatures of the early morning, or evening to get their exercise and social time in. Once the sun rises over the public parks in Singapore, many of the older generation are leaning back on a bench and watching the sun rise, as pictured here.
